OHCC Steering Committee Meeting

3/13/06

1) Approved minutes from 2/8/06 meeting.

2) Larry Update: Larry is home from the hospital. Sam Stoner set up a sign up sheet in the office to coordinate meals being cooked for him.  Brenda and volunteer parents are picking up some of the janitorial duties. Brenda could use some help with the upper school. Mopping always needs to be done. Put trash bags in dumpster or in Janitor closet.  Some of the teachers are picking up their rooms. The idea of work jobs for the students came up, with the idea that they could help clean their class rooms at the end of the day.

3) Boosters Club (Wade Peterson):

Track district meets coming up. HS Meet: 5/13/06 at Junction City. We need to provide volunteers from 9-3 to sit at entrance tables. There is one volunteer already.

MS Meet: 5/6/06 9-? @ LCC. We are in charge of judging boys and girls Shot-put. We need 3-5 volunteers (Janet Gerard volunteered at the meeting). Wade is going to provide Ronnie with a list of the kids on the teams so we can find some parent volunteers.

Next year Spring 2007: Mt. West League:  O.H. is going to host the track meet event @ LCC. We will need 20 volunteers to man the event.

4) Board Update:

a. K-4th is full. They may need to add another K/1st class.

b. Board is looking into future plans for the barn: whether to tear it down and possibly create athletic fields, new HS building, or refurbish barn.

c. The Art/Music/Drama building is still being looked into with matching grants.

 5)  Garden committee: Karen Wildish is planning on starting Friday work parties after spring break. Steve Pringle has offered to maintain the garden through the summer. It would be nice to have a couple of more people to help with that. There is an immediate need for someone to weed the landscaping at the marquis. Karen is thinking that there will be a spring plant sale as she has done previously.

6) Auction April 15th.(Laura Hartman):

We will ask Carrie to put in another reminder about the baskets in the Greengram.  Also, a note that you can donate to other baskets. Laura is looking for someone to organize and buy alcohol for the no host bar. Tents will go up in the Gym Thursday before the auction. She is looking for someone to clean the bathrooms and decorate them (cover up the lockers). Monica McEachern volunteered.  Laura will need help with set up and clean up.

7) Grandparents Day has been moved to April 17th. The decorations from the auction will be used for their luncheon.

8) New Family Welcome: (Janet Gerard) wrote welcome letters to the new families.

9) Alumni Committee: Wade is looking for some help with the alumni survey. Donna Batson volunteered to help. Around 20 people showed up for the alumni party in Jan.

10) Head of School : Elliott wants to remind us to fill out the parent surveys. Also the annual fund drive is still way below goal. We will continue the drive until the goal is met.
