Geometry
- In this class students explore geometry with a focus on applications to various mathematical
topics. Using the University of Chicago Mathematics Project (UCSMP) textbook series, this year
of study covers points, lines, angles, polygons, explicit logical reasoning, and
transformations including reflections, rotations, and translations.
Measurement formulas for both 2 and 3 dimensional figures are developed, proved, and
utilized. Emphasis is also placed on coordinate geometry, similarity, and beginning trigonometry.
During the year, students will work on independent projects.
In addition to the UCSMP Geometry text, materials form Mathematics Teacher and teacher -generated materials will be used.
