Through the study of music, students develop critical listening skills, an understanding of the structure of all music and an appreciation for music from a wide-variety of cultures.

Advanced Band - This band learns how to play a cross section of contemporary music. The repertoire has included the music of Ellington, Coltrane, Bizet and Bach. There are at least four performances per year: in the fall and spring concerts and for other special occasions, such as Open House and the Pleasant Hill Jazz Festival.
