Eighth Grade
(Algebra) -
Topics
include graphing, simplifying and solving equations in one and two variables, solving
simultaneous equations, exponents, square roots and polynomials.
Topics will be approached from a problem-solving perspective.
Challenge problems, mathematical tricks, and other applications from a variety of
sources are integrated into the curriculum.
In addition to Jacobs’ Algebra text and the
University of Chicago School Mathematics Project’s (UCSMP) Algebra,
students will learn from Problem Solving in Mathematics
(Algebra), Algebra Warm-Ups, Mathematics Teacher, and other, teacher generated material.
