Seventh Grade (Pre-Algebra) - This is the transition year for students making the bridge from topics that will be used in algebra classes and above. Students will review and master operations for whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. They will study calculations involving percents, using both estimation techniques and precise calculations. Topics in geometry are studied using algebraic formulas. Ratios are studied and used in a variety of situations. Students work on weekly projects involving various problem solving strategies, including written and oral communication. Larger projects use spatial visualization, technical drawing, graphing, and basic data analysis.
