Seventh Grade (Integrated with History) - Students review and master skills from the sixth grade and are introduced to new concepts. Prepositional phrases, sentence structure and variety, and organization will be taught. Writing assignments include creative writing, essay questions from selected readings and persuasive writing. The students study art and artists, incorporating use of graphic art into a creative story. They also analyze advertising in order to recognize propaganda techniques. Students periodically report on outside reading books of their choice. Class discussion and current events serve to relate and integrate students’ own experiences, literature, and today’s world. Representative novels include: Ivanhoe and Catherine Called Birdy.
