Kindergarten and First Grade -
In addition to all of the traditional approaches to teaching math, including equations and
problem solving, we teach math using hands-on manipulatives. We stress the kinesthetic
learning style, so that students actively learn the mathematical concepts that provide a
strong foundation for their future math skills.
For example, students might measure each other using blocks to sharpen their math
skills.
Or, they might enhance their measurement skills by creating kaleidoscopes or quilts.
The text used is called Math Land.
