Second and Third Grade
continued - In
writing students participate in a writer’s workshop which introduces the writing process
through modeled and group writing.
Second grade students learn to brainstorm, write and revise stories. Spelling focuses
on high frequency words and word patterns.
Students are introduced to cursive handwriting.
Third grade students begin to branch out into various styles of writing including
report writing, descriptive writing, poetry and imaginative fiction.
Spelling focuses on word patterns and using a dictionary to edit stories.
Students also practice cursive handwriting.
