Second and Third Grade
- Reading instruction involves guided reading and teaching of
reading strategies with the whole group, small groups and individuals.
Students respond to reading through literature journals, book groups, and discussion.
In second grade, students strengthen reading fluency by reading literature at a reading
level appropriate to their abilities. In third grade, students read chapter books, study
authors and learn to find information in reference materials.
