Marking
System - Grades are reported
two times a year. Oak Hill uses a
satisfactory scale for the Lower School (grades K-5), and letter grades for Upper School (grades 6-12).
A's are given only for exceptional performance. A- is an honors grade. B
is a college recommending grade. Grades for Advanced Placement courses are
weighted to reflect the academic rigor of these classes.
Communication with Parents
– Every Friday, Grades K-8 receive a Friday Folder.
In this folder, each student’s teacher summarizes the week’s work. The teacher identifies how the student
is progressing and opportunities for improvement. Mid-term, Upper School parents receive
written progress reports about each student. It is not uncommon for teachers to communicate with parents via
phone or email if a significant shift in performance is noticed.
Honor Societies
- Students who maintain a 3.65 GPA are invited into Oak Hill School’s Honor Society.
Membership in the
American Technology Honor Society
requires membership in the
National Honor Society
in
addition to a 3.8 overall GPA.
